How clear are your intentions for the New Year? What seeds have you already planted? What ones are you wanting to plant? What will you water and tend to? What in your life are you hoping will bloom, and what will you let die? What kind of harvest could you envision? What purpose will drive your life decisions? What actions are you willing to take?
I have found that creating my own vision board helps to answer some of these questions. “Vision boarding” (ok, maybe not a true verb!) requires scissors, a variety of magazines, glue, imagination, openness, and suspended judgement. My visioning efforts are many times rewarded with insights and truly profound “AHA!” moments.
Many possibilities are explored through the art of collage making. Cutting and pasting images and phrases allows us to play with our dreams, and dreams allow us to explore our hearts desire. There is a sense of play, of freedom and of joy when we envision alone or in a group setting. To witness peoples hope and aspirations is truly a gift.
Vision boards are a fun activity, one that can help imagine the upcoming year. Not only for personal and professional goal setting–they can also be used to imagine the perfect scenario for a family gathering, a business presentation, or other big event in your life.
I am a visual and kinesthetic learner so for me, the art of crafting (cutting and pasting images and phrases), can bring a tangible picture for what I wish to manifest in the new year.
How can this activity serve you to become the director of your own script? Look for classes through the season. Great for all ages.
As Nietzsche said “you are the only one who can decide your life. Go ahead and walk!”
….And cut and paste!
