Service and Passion

Self Care

I have put Blair’s Herbals on hold for a moment although I am still our communing with the plants and making a small number of products. I missed participating in the holiday markets but hope to return next year.

I still strongly encourage self care as a basic ritual. Walks in nature, mediation, lying on the floor with my feet up against the wall. I love my nightly soaks. That being said…… who wants to share sacred bath time with a mouse? No way!

Housesitting

I am loving this work. I can’t believe I am booking out into summer months. If you want to get away June/July/August, call today. If you have a short trip in Feb, Mar, April or May, try me—sometimes schedules change and I may just be able to help out.

Books

I keep plugging away at these books I am writing. It is one of my biggest time spends. Focused time in front of a screen rewriting and editing is not easy for me. I struggle but my hope is that one day, these will serve as conversation starters to heal shame and to help women find their voice. Curious? I can add you to my publication list and you can know when the books are released. A book reading may be in my future. Curious? Ask me. I would love to share some of my writing in the privacy of a small group of people or in a local venue.

Art & Photography

As an artist, I have periods where I am challenged looking at paint and blank paper. But lately, my definition of artist has expanded in wondrous ways. I look at the world as my canvas.

Sometimes it is making art in nature with found objects. This wreath has a glove, pencil and a bandana left on the trail. I could have added a power bar wrapper and a tube of something—trash left behind, but I stop and create an Andy Goldsworthy-inspired piece of art for others to enjoy—they are meant to be impermanent. They bring me to present moment and intimate connection with nature with keen observation of the color and feel around me.

Then, there is photography. My newest joy. All on an iPhone 8. Whether it is something that strikes me when off on the trail or when I come across people, my camera is out and ready to capture beauty. My eye. My style.

I am surprised by how often am asked to take pictures of people. I wink and say, you know, its your lucky day, I am a professional. Within moments, they are arranging themselves for a staged picture. But, I am not interested in those kind of pictures. I look for smiles, joy and spontaneity. I want to capture character and mood— a unique moment that will bring smiles for a long time.

If you want a personal or friend group photo or notecards or a piece of art to lift you up, reach out.

And, painting regularly is my “jam”. It is such joy to work with colors. Here are some current seasonal watercolors. I still have a few notecard sets and original art available for sale for that special person.
