Do you get regular massage? If you do, you know how great it feels to be touched physically and energetically. Massage has many benefits like Reiki for the wellbeing of your body and mind. Laying on a table signals a relaxation response and is an important component for health. So, regular Reiki sessions can offer similar benefits. Some folks report that they prefer Reiki because it is so gentle and the energetic, and light physical touch penetrates quite deeply. They can feel the nervous system soften, and they have an opportunity for stilling the body and mind for inner clarity and accessing important universal information or dropping into their own deeper knowing or intuitive place that is a common Reiki response.
When we are under a lot of daily stress, it can tax our body and mind in ways we don’t know unless we slow down enough to see and to feel peace and spaciousness. Maybe you don’t feel particularity grounded and perhaps you have an underlying level of anxiety or anxiousness. A Reiki session can be a perfect solution for that tightness an discomfort because it opens the heart and balances the chakras (spinning wheels of energy that take in information and release information for our highest good and healing).
Reiki sessions are different from massage work in that they are done with your clothes on and with a light hand touch–no manipulation happens. The touch can also be done off the body if needed working into the energy fields that extend from the physical. Practicing Reiki can do no harm.
On the table, I honor the laughs and the tears. It is all welcome. A Reiki session can be intense as energy begins to move. Some people can start to sense energy in a new way when the body and the mind are still. They might feel warmth and coolness as the energy floods in or is removed to find the right balance for you. The experience can be gentle and profound. It can be incredibly relaxing and joyful. It can be uncomfortable as the energy releases blockages and you feel sensations. You might not notice anything or you might feel multiple sets of hands. Each person has their own unique experience, but as always, I can trust that the energy goes to where it is needed regardless of where I am on the body. I hold sacred space for whatever needs to happen.
The art of Reiki is growing and touching many lives. There is a lot that is still not known about how Reiki works. The experience is hard to name and unique for each person, but many do experience the calming and relaxing benefits that come from repeated sessions. More and more scientific studies reveal how it has been shown to reduce pain, anxiety, speed healing from surgery, etc., so you could come in for one or two sessions, but weekly, monthly or seasonal sessions are recommended.
I applaud the conventional medical community for embracing this field of energy medicine. Together, energy workers and doctors are able to offer options to support a clients healing and empower them to choose what is best for them. I am excited to see conversations happening now. I welcome you to try a session for yourself and see if it feels right for you. At the very least, you have had created a quiet time in your busy day to rest. I look forward to serving you when the time feels right. All it takes is an openness and an hour of your time. And, who knows, you might be one of the growing numbers of people who are making Reiki a regular part of their self care practices!
