Setting Intentions for Attention

Begin a practice of noticing your thoughts.

Where do you spend your money? Where do you spend your time? Time and Money are both major aspects of “attention” and how we affect the world around us. Begin to watch what things come towards you when you have loving intentions with time and money for creating your best version of yourself and your world.

And then there’s our precious Energy. How do you conserve and generate your own energy and keep it cleared?

I’ve noticed that I need to be particularly careful about how to manage my my own needs, my family’s needs, and what’s going on in the world. I can sometimes find myself very uncomfortable, agitated and emotional. I am what they call a “feeler” type – that can serve me deeply in my line of work, but can be a difficult trait to know how to manage. Some self-care techniques that are essential for me are: taking regular walks outside in nature, watching how I respond to national news and social justice issues, epsom salt baths / hot spring retreats, gratitude journaling, and solo meditation / reflection time.  I regularly trade and receive body and energy work in supporting “putting my money where my mouth is!”

Are you allowing the news feeds and social media to suck attention away from your own health? From your family’s wellbeing? From goals you want to accomplish? These platforms are literally designed to foster outrage and addiction to foster the greatest amount of “eyeball time” and clicks. This contributes to a fear-based thinking that sucks away your precious energy while releasing addictive emotions and endorphins that keep you hooked.

My path has been one to really focus on the freedom that comes with conscious choices and I would love to invite you to be the observer in how you take on daily life’s pains and joys. A holiday reminder to slow down, and to be sensitive to others around you. By noticing your own perspective on a deeper level, you bring yourself closer to others’ unique perspectives as well. Win-win!
