The Look of Success

How important is my “outer” look to my success? I hear about how important it is to make a first impression but I wonder…does it really matter to you what I wear if you experience results from my work? Does it matter to me that my practitioner is nicely dressed and takes time with her appearance? How does dress add to professionalism? How important is a space? How does the comfort and decor set the tone?

Over the years I have received work in private homes, in a grocery store aisle, in nice office spaces, in my home, etc. I know that I have the ability to overlook the fact that I am receiving in someone’s home; does my walking by a kitchen with dirty dishes, a living room with dirty piles of clothes keep me from fully engaging in the moment? I have also had practitioners in street clothes come into my home and give me the most amazing treatments. None of that bothers me, but I can appreciate that it may for others because I can acknowledge a deep desire to see health, beauty, and self care reflected in that person who is in the field of helping others with their wellbeing.

I have never really dressed for me. I can dress for others/events/work, but it takes more effort to pull out an outfit that I can feel good in and also move around freely so my work is unrestricted. I prefer the simplicity of jeans and a nice top. My pockets hold crystals, essential oils or other tools for my sessions.

In the beginning, I worked out of my home and shared office space. I now have my own private sanctuary in a downtown building with filled with other practitioners. I love having my own space! It does bring a certain sense of being “official” — an acknowledgement of confidence and trainings from years of certificate programs.

Developing and growing my practice requires a consideration of how I am presenting myself and my work and how I can continue to attract the kinds of clients that I can best serve. I want you to feel safe and drop into that space that is conducive to the deepest place of quiet — free of distractions.

The New Year welcomes more attention to being in service to that comfortable and professional outer image while continuing to offer the kind of holding that can assist you in reaching your dreams and supporting your commitment to prioritizing your own self care!
